by Edwin A. Locke
By examining a number of articles in professional journals, Dr. Locke identifies several pernicious intellectual trends in modern psychology. For example, materialism is still influential among psychologists, in fields such as artificial intelligence. Determinism is alive and well among the promoters of "victimhood" and the defenders of addictions. Subjectivism in the realm of values is considered an axiom. More broadly, general epistemological chaos in psychology leads to the widespread denial of the validity of introspection. This talk shows why modern psychology cannot escape the errors of modern philosophy.
